What this one is built to do
Pins hold their place
The locking lever clamps the plastic teeth down after you press the gauge against the molding. The pins stay where you pushed them while you carry the tool over to the plywood.
Adjust the pin tension
Pins slide easily when new and loosen over months of tracing ductwork. We built an adjustment point into the frame so you can tighten the drag on the teeth with a turn of a screw.
Two sizes in one pack
You get a short gauge for tight clearances behind a radiator and a longer one for stair treads or wider baseboards. Both slide into a single bucket or ride flat in a drawer.
Tough plastic teeth
The body and the moving pins are molded from thick plastic that does not rust on damp basement slabs. Wipe off drywall dust with a rag before you slide the tool back on the rack.
