Portable Welding Machine, Orange

A broken gate latch or a cracked bracket usually means dragging out an extension cord and a heavy box. We built this small orange welder to fit in one hand instead. It plugs in, strikes an arc without fuss, and leaves a tidy bead on carbon steel or iron. You supply the welding helmet and the steel.

What this one is built to do

Dialing the current

The rotary knob on the back adjusts output across a wide band for thin sheet or thicker angle iron. The inverter holds current steady so the arc stays lit and spatter stays down around your seam.

Easy arc starts

Hot start circuitry feeds extra current the moment the rod taps the work. The stick catches quickly instead of sticking to cold metal, giving you a clean puddle right from the edge of your joint.

Handling different rods

The clamp accepts standard welding rods from thin gauge up through medium thickness. You can run common carbon steel rods without changing holders or fighting with awkward feed mechanisms at the bench.

Keeping internal parts cool

An internal fan pulls air through the vented orange case during long runs. The thermal cutoff stops the output if the unit gets too hot, letting the fan cool the electronics before you strike the next arc.
